I know it is too early to do a Harvest Report when it is August, but September and October are looming. I will mention previous years and where we are now.
Previous Years
I planted the wrong seeds verbally even though I harvested that year I spoke to soon and early and that year I did reap a good harvest. Never speak to soon about a harvest there is timing for everything as I learned. When I planted seeds I had planted them through the years. Some seeds I planted were of my eBay business and now I branch out and planted to Mercari and I have planted there.
I once heard a story by Joel Osteen where he talked about a Bible story where nothing was going on and it didn’t seem that anything would grow and people told that one person not to grow it. He grew in a middle of a drought and then he harvested like no one would have harvested. The point is plant and have faith you will harvest and be rewarded for what you will harvest.
My Philosophy Going into this Harvest Season
I know that I planted and that I am taking time watering my crops. What I mean is I posted lots of items on eBay and Mercari. And i am watering it by sharing the links and spreading the word about the items. I know they are looking at the items and I have a feeling some will go and be sold in harvest time.
I know that with what I heard from Joel Osteen’s preaching the long the time the harvest. The bigger it will be. I know time will come for it and I am getting prepared. I am optimistic and not going to be negative. I had my time and sometimes you have to take care of your crops for me its items to sell. The Flea Market Season and the Yard Sale Season will come to a close and many will want to buy stuff for the Holidays. The Harvest Season didn’t fail me in the past. It won’t fail me again.
Fall Season 2023 is Here
All around it has been raining which is good for crops. It is good to build. I know the storm of 2023 will pass and the Holidays are always a good time to buy gifts. This maybe my 3rd year selling stuff on eBay, but I will get past this year this is the hump year. Battling a tough economy I know that the past two years the harvest didn’t fail me. It was slow around June to some of September, but it picked up in October as it always have.
Do I think the Economy Will Have an Effect on My Sales?
The Economy Goes in Cycles. With good stuff it maybe good. There is always competition. New marketplaces to buy and people want the best price for the item and some want a steal on them. You take into account on high inflation and prices going up. Even though people pay for that item prices such as higher shipping rates and higher price to pay for envelopes and bigger envelopes. It hurts business. As a seller you have to come up with a way to recoup your loss on paying for packing items. That’s why it hurts with shipping records, because you have to add the price of tape, printing cartridge, boxes and envelopes and paper for Handling Prices. Otherwise eBay or other places will take out what you lost. Before it wouldn’t be that bad, but they want their cut. And if you add what eBay takes or other companies, you might even lose on the deal. So it hurts when they raise prices. I don’t want to add raised rates, but unless dis-inflation happens to the point things are fair and competitive things will be rough for awhile.
Do I think I will do well this Harvest Season?
I think I will. People will buy items from me, but I don’t think I will do as good as I did the year before. I could be wrong though. I am optimistic. Around November is the time that people are making some money. They are picking up holiday hours. They are thinking about buying gifts. They are coming in and shopping inside the house after the flea markets and yard sales. And they have a little extra money making a comeback from buying gifts and bills.
Harvest is a time where your fruits are gathered and you could profit from them. You have to work. People like to have good deals. In old stuff and new. Especially when some are in the box. Every Market is different. Besides Pumpkin Spice. There is something special about this time of year. It is new show season and back to work again. It always has been a unique time of the year. As they say, “Think local, act global.” What might not be good with one may be good for another. And everyone is granted a harvest season.
Who do you want to do business with someone who is grumpy and complaining all the time or someone who is happy to do what they do? That is why I am more optimistic about the sales. I enjoy selling the items that I do to make someone happy with the item.
I know my thoughts on this blog maybe all over the place, but I am writing this blog in different times. To end this blog I am optimistic of the future sales. I’m not going to lie it will be rough for people that is why I appreciate every sale to make you happy. Everyone has an off month that is why I am working to correct the error of the past, but my track record is good. I am out for a positive comeback.
